Vasiliki Panagiotou is a biotechnologist currently doing her internship at the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens. Her work involves ongoing research projects investigating a) the microbiome in asthma and b) new interventions in nut allergy.
She completed her studies at the Department of Biotechnology of the Agricultural University of Athens, earning an integrated Master's degree at level 7.
During her studies, she completed two two-month internships, one at the Laboratory of Quality Control and Food Hygiene of AUA and the second through the European Erasmus placements programme at the Institute of Human Genetics (IGH) in Montpellier, France.
Following her internship at the IGH, she completed her PhD thesis entitled "In silico characterisation of the genetic repertoire of the IGH and TRG genetic loci of Homo sapiens," which focuses on the discovery of new alleles and genes at these genetic loci, as well as the generation of their maps using the IMGT tools and database.
