Dr.Dimitrios Mitsias MD, PhD is specialized allergist for children and adults. He was born in Athens and graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens where he continued with postgraduate studies on Immunology. He took his PhD degree on Immunology and his thesis, under the supervision of Prof. H.M.Moutsopoulos, was entitled “Sjogren’s syndrome: Morphologic and Functional Properties of Infiltrating Lymphocytes”. He specialized on Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Allergy Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens where he still is, since 2011, postgraduate scholar, responsible for the Allergen Immunotherapy Department. He is member and holder of Certificate of Excellence from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI).


Dr.Mitsias has published more than 20 papers at International Journals and has collaborated chapters in textbooks. He has delivered over 100 lectures in Greek and International congresses and seminars. Indicatively, he reports his participation to Europrevall (European program on children’s food allergy), to the development of an algorithm on diagnosis and implementation of specific Allergen Immunotherapy with the use of Molecular Diagnostics, to the EAACI guidelines on diagnosis and treatment of Hymenoptera Venom Allergy and, to the European registry on Adverse Events of Allergen Immunotherapy (ADER).  

He has been assistant editor and reviewer for International Journals. He is member of the Athens Medical Association, the College of Children’s Allergy, the Hellenic Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EEAKA) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). Apart from his clinical and scientific work at the Allergy Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic, he runs Allergy Offices for Children and Adults (www.mitsias-allergy.gr) in Halandri and Tripoli.
