Maria Pasioti is an academic scholar at the Allergy Unit of 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, and a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, with a research focus on tree nut allergy and its treatment.
She completed her medical studies at the University of Athens and then trained for two years as a resident at the Pediatric Clinic of G.H. of Lamia and the Pediatric Clinic of G.H. of Veria. She completed the specialty of Allergology at Laiko G.H. in Athens, where, in addition to full participation in all the Department's activities, she also participated in clinical trials and studies.
She was a scientific associate in basic research at the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Research Center of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens (2008-2013), participating in European research programs. Since 2018, she has been an academic scholar in the Allergy Unit, in charge of the food allergy clinic, with active participation in educating students and interns. She is a member of the Athens Medical Association (ISA), the Hellenic Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (HSACI), and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). She has received the "Certificate of Excellence," after exams, from EAACI and scholarships from EEAKA and the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY). She actively participates in European and Hellenic conferences, with more than ten invited talks and more than 30 poster and oral presentations, many of which have been awarded.
She has published seven papers, receiving 83 citations and a research interest score of 250 (research gate). Currently, she investigates the management of tree nut food allergy through desensitization to protect patients from severe allergic reactions upon accidental exposures.
