Paraskevi Xepapadaki is Professor of Pediatrics–Allergology (Prof, MD, PhD) at the Allergy Unit, 2nd Department of Pediatrics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
She graduated from the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and specialized in Pediatrics at the 1st Pediatric Clinic, General Hospital of Pantelis, Athens (2004). She completed her PhD thesis (grade A) in 2004 at the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Unit of the 2nd Department of Pediatrics, where she continued her postgraduate training in Allergy and Pediatric Allergy (2000-). She retrained in pulmonary functions in adults and school and pre-school age children with a scholarship from the World Allergy Organization in Gothenburg, Sweden, and in Paediatric Pulmonology-Allergology, including bronchoscopy in children, Sheffield Children's Hospital, United Kingdom.
She
Supervises the Respiratory Laboratory of the Allergy Unit, as well as the Pulmonary Clinic, in the 2nd Department of Pediatrics.
Evaluates children with allergies examined in the Allergy Unit (about 5000 visits per year) and referrals from the Hospital's clinics.
Participates in the on-call program of the 2nd Pediatric Department Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Her educational endeavors include the training of medical residents in Allergy, Pediatrics and Specialists, the training of students in the context of Pediatrics and she has the responsibility for the Optional Compulsory Course "Allergy for Children and Adults", with an annual number of enrollees up to 300-400 students.
She holds 25 Greek and international awards. She has participated in more than 30 nationally and internationally funded research projects (FP7 and Horizon), including as Principal Investigator in three Horizon programs coordinated by the Allergy Unit of the 2nd Department of Pediatrics. She has also been involved in more than 50 Greek and international clinical protocols and programs. She serves as a reviewer for 16 international journals, is an Editor for Frontiers in Allergy and Journal of Clinical Medicine, and a member of 4 Greek and 4 European scientific societies.
She has been a member of the organizing committees of 65 conferences and an invited speaker at over 150 national and international conferences. She served for four years as a Board Member of the Pediatric Board of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) EAACI, and is currently a Board Member of the College of Pediatric Allergology and of the Pediatric Asthma Section of the World Allergy Organization(WAO) (since 2019).
She has 125 published papers on PubMed, an h-index of 39, over 5,000 citations, and has authored 21 book chapters.
