Nikolaos Vergoulidis is a bioinformatics scientist and research associate at the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens.
With a basic degree in Biomedical Sciences in TEI of Larissa and in his final year of his Master’s degree, in “Bioinformatics and Computational Biology” in the Biology Department of National Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In addition he was selected and concluded the last years’ Erasums+ Program titled “Experimental Models in Molecular Biomedicine” in the faculty of Medicine of Autonoma Universidad de Madrid as well as the one titled “THE SCIENCE, ETHICS & GOVERNANCE OF HUMAN GENOME EDITING” which is to take place in the summer of 2024 in the faculty of Medicine of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen .
Since 2023 he has been collaborating with BSRC “Alexander Fleming” in the BIB Lab of Dr. Pavlopoulos, where he has been developing bioinformatics pipeline using state-of-the-art tools, for the process and analysis of large-scale metagenomics data to recruit enzyme sequences. Since April of 2024 he has been part of the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens where his main role is to implement bioinformatics analytical methods and tools to investigate the bacteriome-phageome interaction and composition of asthmatic patients.
In the midst of the pandemic, he was engaged in Attikon University Hospital within the Clinical Microbiology Department of medical school of NKUoA with the role of handling and assessing of immunological and virological control of diverse clinical speciments as well as in the Molecular Control Lab Dept. where he performed diagnostic procedures for the screening and targeting of SARS-CoV-2.
