Despoina Lagou is a biologist and scientific collaborator at the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens.
Despoina was born in November 1997 in Athens. She completed her basic studies at the Department of Biology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and is currently completing her postgraduate studies in the program "Gene and Cellular Therapies" at the Department of Medicine of the University of Patras in collaboration with the University of West Attica.
Έχει συνεργαστεί με το Ελληνικό Ινστιτούτο Pasteur, αρχικά στο πλαίσιο της διπλωματικής της εργασίας και στη συνέχεια ως βοηθός εργαστηρίου. Οι ερευνητικές της δραστηριότητες επικεντρώθηκαν, μεταξύ άλλων θεμάτων, στο μονοπάτι των κατεχολαμινών, στη ρύθμιση του μονοπατιού της αυτοφαγίας καθώς και στη συσχέτιση αυτών με τους ιούς FlaviviridaeShe has been working with the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, first as part of her thesis and then as a laboratory assistant. Her research activities focused on various topics, including the catecholamine pathway, the regulation of the autophagy pathway, and its association with Flaviviridae viruses. Since December 2023, she has been working at the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, where she is investigating new interventions in nut allergy by participating in the research project "Impact of the extrusion process on the allergenicity of foods".
