Dr Maria Galani is a consultant in Allergy, Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2nd Pediatric Clinic, University of Athens. She was born in 1980 and grew up in the city of Trikala. In 1998 she qualified and was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. She graduated in 2006. Between the years of 2007 to 2009 she was a core medical trainee in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Trikala. Following on she was trained in Allergy at “Laiko” tertiary hospital of Athens and successfully completed her allergy training in 2013. In the same year she sat the EAACI-UEMS exams and was granted the Diploma of European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
Prior to undertaking her current NHS post she served her rural medical service at the Public Sector Prisons, departments of Trikala. From 2016 to present she holds a permanent post and is a staff member of the Unit of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2nd Pediatric Clinic, University of Athens.
She is an active member of the Hellenic society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology but also of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical immunology. She has participated with scientific presentations both National and International congresses. She has actively participated in scientific workshops and congresses and has attended focus meetings aiming to continue her professional development. She has been a member of scientific committee responsible for the scientific program and organization of congresses. She has contributed to scientific papers and oral presentations.
She has a special interest in Atopic dermatitis and had been the responsible clinician for the “School of Atopic Dermatitis” of the Allergy Unit. She has also participated as a sub-investigator in multicenter clinical trials of investigational medicinal products for atopic dermatitis.
